Arko signs two film deals with Dharma Productions

MUMBAI: Music composer Arko Pravo Mukherjee, who composed eight songs for music label- Zee Music in 2014, has now signed a two-film contract with Dharma Productions.

Confirming the same with Radioandmusic.com, Arko said “Yes, I have signed a two-film contract, but I cannot talk about it at this juncture.” As part of the deal he will also be composing a few songs for the Aishwarya Rai and Irrfan Khan starrer- ‘Jazbaa’, whose film music will release under Zee Music.

Speaking about making the music for those tracks he said, “The approach for making music for this film was very different as it is not the regular Bollywood film. It is not a story which needs one party number, one soft romantic song and one sad song. The story line is different and there was a lot of thought that went into composing the songs ‘Kahaaniya’ and ‘Jane Tere Sheher’.”

He revealed that the film’s director- Sanjay Gupta, and he sat down together to decide the kind of songs that were needed for the film. Arko claims that Zee Music’s Business Head and EVP- Anurag Bedi helped greatly in putting the whole album together.

For the songs from ‘Jazbaa’, the composer opted for a couple of fresh voices in the form of Nilofer Wani and Vipin Aneja. “Nilofer has been a very old friend of mine and her vocals for soft rock song suited the situation. Vipin’s vocals suit ghazals, which is why Sanjay and I selected these singers,” explained Arko.

The film ‘Jazbaa’ is slated to release on 9 October, 2015.
