Universal Music Iberian Peninsula President Simone Bose dies

MUMBAI: A couple of months back, Universal Music had appointed Simone Bose as the President of Universal Music Iberian Peninsula, but his sudden demise has come as the shock amongst his friends and family. He passed away due to complications from pneumonia.

51 year old Bosé was responsible of the company’s operations in Spain and Portugal. He will be based in Madrid. No official statement has been issued by the company yet. People have started tweeting console messages.

He has also worked with Universal owned company Mercury label in Spain from 1992 to 1999 as director of A&R and marketing, director of international exploitation and managing director. His second stint with Universal Music was after he quit his role as chairman of Parlophone Spain.

After leaving Universal Music in 1999 Bose was one of the founding partners of independent music company BajaMusic. In 2004 he joined EMI as general manager of EMI Music Spain and in 2009 was promoted to chairman of EMI Music Spain and Portugal.

He worked with Bebe, Amaral, Bunbury, Macaco, Luz Casal, Estrella Morente, Mariza, Carminho y Camane and Pablo Alborán, the best-selling new act in 2011 and 2012 in Spain and Portugal.
