Sony Music acquires the music rights of Dharma's next - Ok Jaanu

MUMBAI: The music rights for the upcoming Mani Ratnam and Karan Johar produced romantic drama film 'OK Jaanu' has been acquired by global music giants Sony Music India.

Directed by Shaad Ali with AR Rahman as the music director, 'OK Jaanu' is the official remake of Mani Ratnam's Tamil hit film 'OK Kanmani'.

The music rights of the original was acquired by Sony Music South.

Says Sanujeet Bhujabal, Marketing Director Sony Music India, “We have seen a massive success of the music when we released the album in South in 2015 and we hope to create the same excitement with OK Jaanu.

The movie and its music has already cut across geographies therefore the strategy is to recreate the magic. We are extremely excited to be working with the best from the industry- Mani Ratnam, Karan Johar and A.R. Rahman on this project and together we will create a musical success."

He further adds, "The album has a great mix of new compositions and original OK Kanmani tracks by A R Rahman, which is something to watch out for!"

Ok Jaanu is a musical that stars Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles and hits the big screen on 13th January, 2017.

The lyrics are penned by the legendary Gulzar.
