DJ Chetas to bring more DJs on board for his academy

MUMBAI: DJ Chetas, who launched his very own DJ training school early this year, has in a matter of months, witnessed rapid rise in enrollment. The Mumbai institution, called DJ Chetas School of Music, began with just 10 students when it first opened, and is currently training 40 people from various age groups.

“I had this idea of establishing a music school for about a couple of years now. The aim of coming up launching an institute was that I wanted music lovers to pursue their interests. This is why we named the academy DJ Chetas School of Music, and not a DJ institute,” revealed the DJ. After receiving an overwhelming response, Chetas now intends to set up the music academy in various other cities, including Pune, Nagpur, Delhi and Kolkata.

The DJ believes in training students by giving them first-hand experience at venues, which is why classes are held at Club Royalty in Bandra, Mumbai. According to Chetas, this teaches music students how to conduct themselves in a live crowd. “By getting them (students) trained at a live venue, they get the feel of what works for the crowd and what does not. I think this is more important than training in the studios. It also gives students an opportunity to learn things on the best gear and equipment, which helps them a lot,” he explained.

Classes are conducted every day, and there is also a weekend batch for working students. Additionally, Chetas also intends to bring more DJs on board like NYK, Lost Stories, AJ Aqeel and many more for the masterclass.

Apart from the academy, DJ Chetas is also working on a few mash-ups, which will be releasing soon. He also revealed that he is looking forward to collaborate with an international DJ.
