First winner of SWOOperstar 2017 announced

MUMBAI: Aimed at bringing high quality and engaging live stream broadcasts to the fore, the SWOOperstar 2017 competition unveiled its first week's winner on Monday, 11 December.

ShaymaaYounes (@Younees) from Egypt won $10,000 for her broadcast titled: 'Spacetoons- Live dubbing'. The broadcast was adjudged the winner from amongst hundreds of other entries from across the globe based on:

1-Audience interest: Which was calculated by the number of views the broadcasts received.

2-Engagement: The number of comments, claps and shares on the broadcasts.

3-Quality of content: This was judged by an unbiased jury appointed by the organizers.

The competition was organized by and on SWOO, a live video streaming app used by experts, influencers and celebrities to connect with their viewers via live broadcasts. SWOO was developed by Algorythma, the technology arm of Abu Dhabi Financial Group.

The SWOO app, available for Android and iOS smartphones, has grown tremendously since its launch in September. Hundreds of broadcasters had signed up prior to SWOOperstar 2017 and dozens of broadcasts were posted daily. While SWOO has users from across the globe, most of them currently come from the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent.

The SWOOperstar 2017 competition began on the 1 December 2017 and will run through the month with weekly winners. The response has been tremendous, so far. Within a week of SWOOperstar's commencement, live broadcasts on SWOO have increased 3.5 times with a proportionate increase in the number of users signing up and engaging.

Due to the high number of participants and broadcast entries, SWOO has announced that the weekly cash prize will be revised from $10,000 to $15,000 for Week 2 and 3. It will be awarded thus:

1st place: $10,000

2nd place: $3,000

3rd place: $2,000

The last 10 days of December will be the finale and will lead up to the announcement of the mega winner on New Year’s who will win $20,000.
