Arun Jaitley launches mobile application of the Digital Calendar 2015, will include AIR and DD updates

MUMBAI: Information & Broadcasting minister Arun Jaitley launched digital calendar 2015 mobile application recently. The app will serve as a planner to the users bringing news updates from AIR and DD News. In addition to news updates, the other important features in app include the latest tweets from the PMO; the YouTube channel of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B); the press releases on PIB website and information of all other Government website.

The app is available on Android and will be made available on other mobile platforms over a course of time. The app was developed by Directorate of Advertisement and Visual Publicity (DAVP). Along with the digital version, Jaitley released the official calendar of the Government for the year 2015. The theme of the calendar is 'Clean India Green India'.

The app also provides socially relevant messages which would be accessible on real time basis through mobile phones.

During the launch, he stated that the 'Government Calendar -2015' provided a platform to converge the two key flagship schemes of the government - 'Swachh Bharat' and 'Digital India'. He further added that it is a combination of conventional and technological modes of communicating the initiatives of the Government.

He stated that the app of the calendar reaffirmed the government's vision of taking the idea of 'Digital India' ahead.

I&B minister of state Rajyavardhan Rathore and I&B secretary Bimal Julka along with senior officials of I&B Ministry were also present on the occasion.
