FM phase-III to offer only 4 licences in metros

MUMBAI: Finally it came in, even if it was way too late. The much-awaited phase-III policy approved by the government last month though cheered up the industry, but it has too little to offer for the metros. This may spell some bad news for FM stations as that is where lies the pot of gold. According to government officials, only four FM licences will be available for metros. Out of the total, two will be in Mumbai, one each in Delhi and Chennai while there is no licence up for grabs in Kolkata. MP to set up 100 tribal community radio stations

MUMBAI:  Madhya Pradesh Government will set up more than â€?100 tribal community' radio stations in tribal areas across the state. The tribal community radio project is being implemented by the department through a special wing known as â€?Vanya.' The first nine community radio stations will be made functional in districts including Dindori, Balaghat, Khandwa, Betul, Dhar, Jhabua, Guna, Sheopur and Chhindwara.
