MUMBAI: Multi-instrumentalist singer Raghav Sachar has not been deterred with the sorry state of non-film music. The singer has recently released his eighth album �Set the Fire' on its own label Raghav Sachar Music.
The singer has introduced a new concept in India by recording the title track video for the album during one of his live concerts. �Set the Fire' comprises of nine songs, one of it being a jugalbandi of flute and drums played by Darshan Doshi and him.

MUMBAI: SPICMACAY will be conferred with the 19th Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana Award, for its contribution in promoting Indian classical music and culture among masses for over three decades.
The decision was taken by the Award Advisory Committee of the All India Congress to acknowledge SPICMACAY's efforts in fostering awareness and knowledge about the country's composite heritage.
The 19th edition of the award will confer the institute with the sum of five lakhs and a citation on saturday 20 August in New Delhi.

MUMBAI: Two-time National award winner and renowned music composer Johnson, passed away on Thursday evening in Chennai. Johnson, 58, suffered a cardiac arrest and was rushed to a private hospital where he was declared dead.
The maestro had scored music for more than 300 Malayalam films and had won the National award for best background score for the films 'Ponthan Mada' in 1994 and 'Sukrutham' in 1995. Johnson has also won state awards five times in his career spanning over three decades.

MUMBAI: ArtistAloud.com, the platform for independent musicians by Hungama Digital Media, has won the �IndiaSocial Case Challenge 2' for the �Best Strategic Programme'.
The award was won after a tough battle with MTV Roadies and Max New York Life. The jury went through a three tier process, the final being an on-ground jury meet held at Nasscom office in New Delhi in the first week of August 2011.
