NEW DELHI: Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni is expected to formally assume charge on 1 June.
Soni, however, met senior I&B and Prasar Bharati officials today to apprise herself of the working of her ministry.
Soni said today that the primary aim of her ministry would be to ensure that information about government programmes for the welfare of the people reaches every citizen of the country.

MUMBAI: Muthoot Group's Chennai Live 104.8 FM is launching an international dance programming show starting 4 June.
"We have experimented by playing local DJ music all along and now we are taking it forward by playing international dance DJ music," says Chennai Live chief programming officer Geoffrey Thomas.
The show will be aired between 11-12 pm on Thursdays while on Fridays it will be between 9-12 pm and Saturdays it will be from 8-12 pm.

BANGALORE: The Virgin Mobile 24X7 Rockathon successfully completed 100 hours of continuous live music performance at 3:00 pm on Friday. MUMBAI: Krishna Beura who sung the track �Maula Mere' in Shimit Amin's �Chak De India' (2007) has bagged an international project with Girish Malik's �Guns and Heroes'.
Krishna is rendering vocals to two tracks of the movie out of which one is the theme song of the movie, incidentally again called �Maula Mere'. The song has been composed by Meet Bros- Harmeet and Manmeet Singh and Taata Tannu and lyrics are penned by Juneja.

MUMBAI: Starting 1 June, Dave Matthews Band Radio will broadcast week-long on Sirius XM's Jam_On channel, Sirius channel 17 and XM channel 56.
This coincides with the release of the band's latest studio album Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King that will be released worldwide on 2 June.
Sirius XM Radio president and chief content officer Scott Greenstein says, "Dave Matthews Band has both a fervent fanbase and one of the most original sounds in rock music. We are happy to dedicate a week of Jam_On's programming to this band."

The song �Jashn-E-Bahaara' in Ashutosh Gowariker's �Jodhaa Akbar'(2008) has finally catapulted this singer to the A-list.
The music for the album has been scored by Nayab Raja and the lyrics are given by Ibrahim Ashq and Vijay. The name and the label of the album have not been decided yet but it will comprise eight songs, including a remix of one...
NEW DELHI: Ambika Soni, who had served as Minister of Tourism and Minister of Culture in the outgoing UPA Government, is the Information and Broadcasting Minister in the Manmohan Singh cabinet.
Soni is from the Rajya Sabha like her predecessor Anand Sharma who was widely being tipped to continue in the same portfolio.
Interestingly, the present Council of Ministers has two Ministers of State in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting - Mohan Jatua and Dr. S Jagathrakshakan.
