MUMBAI: The legendary composer Madan Mohan, who passed away in 1975 at the young age of 51, left behind various tunes which remained unused. Some of these were used as the music score of Veer Zaara, and won wide appreciation and various awards.
He also left behind songs recorded in his lifetime, which remained unheard as the films remained incomplete.
15 such songs were released on an album Tere Bagair by Yash Raj Music in 2009, to mark the composer's 85th birth anniversary.

MUMBAI: Revenues of the Indian mobile handset market grew by 15% to touch Rs 33,171 crore in 2010-11 from Rs 28,897 in 2009-10, according to an annual survey by the telecom industry journal Voice&Data.
The 16th annual survey 'V&D 100' covered all the mobile handset companies in India across categories like feature phones, multimedia phones, enterprise phones and smartphones. Both multi-national and Indian mobile phone firms were surveyed for this report.

MUMBAI: Zee TV's music reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champs has partnered with Singchana.com, an online karaoke website that allows users to match the renditions of their favourite songs against the pitch of the original singer.
Young aspiring singers can sing karaoke, practice their singing, and challenge friends via the web to beat their score. The website takes the player's voice and converts it into a visual representation which is simultaneously compared with the original singer's voice.

MUMBAI: T-Series anti-piracy unit recently raided four electronic shops in Madhya Pradesh and seized 180 VCDs, 127 DVDs and 300 MP3s.

MUMBAI: Viacom18 Media has appointed Namrata Tata as the national head of sales for its international music and entertainment channel, Vh1 India.
Tata will be responsible for driving Vh1 sales revenues across all markets. She will report into Vh1 India head Ferzad Palia.
Prior to this appointment, Tata was VP at Aidem Ventures, handling network sales for NDTV 24X7 and NDTV India.
With over 12 years of experience, Tata has also worked at NDTV Media Ltd, Sahara One, Nickelodeon, NDTV India and Star India.
