MUMBAI: NEW DELHI: A mesmerizing colourful cultural fiesta was organized in the capital to mark the 85th birthday of living legend Bhupen Hazarika, the evergreen balladeer from the north east who has captivated the hearts of the nation through his singing and his music.
The programme was organized by Assam Association, Delhi, and Cotton College Alumni Association, New Delhi-NCR, in association with the Asom Sahitya Sabha, New Delhi Chapter; All Assam Lekhika Samaroh, Delhi and Just Be Friendly (JBF).

BANGALORE: The sixth season of Asianet's reality show 'Idea Star Singer' begins on 26 September at 8 pm.
Asianet Idea Cellular is a continuous on going show on the channel. The sixth edition was inaugurated by jury members – play back singers Hariharan, K.S.Chithra, M.G.Sreekumar and music director M. Jayachandran in the presence of Asianet managing director K Madhavan and business head John Brittas.
The new edition will have 30 contestants from across Kerala vying for the top spot. Auditions were conducted in all major cities in Kerala and abroad.

NEW DELHI: Prasar Bharati earned revenue of Rs 3.29 billion for the fiscal first-quarter ended June.
Doordarshan's contribution was Rs 2.08 billion while All India Radio's (AIR) net commercial revenue stood at Rs 1.11 billion. Other resources earned Rs 101.1 million for the three months ended June 2011.
Prasar Bharati's net revenue for 2010-11 – subject to reconciliation – was Rs 12.76 billion, of which Rs 9.44 billion came from DD and Rs 2.57 billion from AIR as net commercial revenue. A total of Rs 746 million came from other resources.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Friday commenced hearing of a petition challenging the decision of Prasar Bharati de-recognizing all associations of employees, rejecting a plea by counsel for the pubcaster seeking dismissal of the plea.
The hearing will continue on 26 September when counsel for the associations as well as those of Prasar Bharati will present their arguments.
