MUMBAI:1worldspace, the Maryland company formerly called Worldspace gained 2,283 net subscribers during the second quarter of 2008 in India, even with substantially reduced marketing spend in the region according to the recently released Q2 results.
1worldspace ended the period with 164,309 subscribers in India as compared with 162,026 at the end of the first quarter of 2008. Catering to audiences in more than 130 countries, the company ended the quarter with 171,657 subscribers worldwide, a slight increase of 187 from the prior quarter.

MUMBAI: Delhi based NGO, Development Alternatives (DA) will soon start a community radio station in Orchha, Madhya Pradesh, becoming the country's second NGO to get a CR license to operate. The Maharashtra based NGO Mann Vikas Samajik Sanstha-MVSS became the first to get a licence to run a community radio in Aswad village and will go on air from 15 September.

Mumbai: After a three way pitch, PR agency Mischief has acquired the account to re-brand the UK based Virgin radio now owned by TIML, a subsidiary of The Times Of India. The agency will put in Ł15m in a PR campaign to build the new brand, according to reports.
The agency has poached Lexis PR's Ben Dutton as joint creative director to work on the new account. Recent reports have suggested that the new Virgin brand will be unveiled by the end of August.
