MUMBAI: "I think in every child there is the hidden real star," says music director Bappi Lahiri, who is coming out with an album SLUM STARS with children from the Dharavi Slums. In association with DJ Paul Devro who will be remixing the tracks, the album will be receiving a world release with the international label Mad Decent in Los Angeles. This album has been possible, thanks to the effort of dharavi.org, an organization striving for the betterment of the residents of Dharavi.

MUMBAI: UK pubcaster the BBC's DG Mark Thompson has announced a deeper commitment to arts and music on the BBC, with a range of initiatives aimed at supporting cultural Britain and better serving the public.
He pledged that the BBC would:
* Create a new Arts Editor role for BBC News, which will help ensure that appropriate focus is given to arts events and stories on a day-to-day basis.
* Demonstrate a new energy in working with partners, creating a BBC arts board to improve the gestation process for great content ideas and partnerships.

MUMBAI: Going a step forward, the Channel [V] Launchpad season III has introduced a new element in their band hunt concept.
Seven shortlisted bands entered a ' House of Rock' on Saturday, where they will be put up for the next 10 days for some gruelling sessions and tasks that started from 31 January 2009. The elmination were due to begin on the first day itself, with one band scheduled to get ousted from the house based on a task performance.
