MUMBAI: Sirius Satellite Radio has launched an exclusive channel, Radio Mom, to mark the 100th anniversary of Mother's Day. The channel will broadcast for one week beginning 3 May and will run through Mother's Day, Sunday, 11 May.
Radio Mom on channel 119 will be devoted to personal messages, greetings, dedications from listeners about their mothers and mother figures. The messages of callers will be collected through a special "Radio-Mom" call in number.

MUMBAI: According to UK radio industry monitor Rajar, the British digital radio industry has seen a growth in trends for the number of people listening to digital radio. Claims made this year showed that the format was receiving insufficient publicity.
The quarterly figures revealed almost one third of the UK population listens to digital radio each week, Radio listening has risen upto one per cent to 45.4 million per week, in adults the number of people who own a DAB radio tuner has gone up to 27.3 per cent.

MUMBAI: T-Series, which has been on a music acquisition spree, has struck deals for seven more films's rights.
After a series of releases early this year, the music label has acquired music rights of seven films, promos of some of which have already hit the airwaves, while others are in the pipeline. The list includes five feature films - Hastey Hastey, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Mere Baap Pehle Aap, De Taali, Mehbooba and two animation films, Dashavtar and Ghatothkach.

NEW DELHI: With plummeting record sales, Phonographic Performance Ltd (PPL) feels they are charging under reasonable limits for the music content to the radio industry.
Says PPL CEO Vipul Pradhan, "Almost all the content that the radio plays is music and we are charging only Rs 660 per needle hour, which I feel isn't excessive by any means. The price was set by the government and I, myself, am complaining about the rates fixed. If I were to set a rate for my content, it would be no less than Rs 2,400 per needle hour."
